Central London, United Kingdom The Francis Crick Institute Full time £43,210
Chromosome Architecture and Function

In the Chromosome Segregation Laboratory, we investigate molecular mechanisms that underpin faithful chromosome segregation during cell division. This is a complex process, essential for maintaining genome stability and preventing cancer. Our research focuses on structural chromosomal proteins, such as cohesin and condensin, which play critical roles in sister chromatid cohesion and chromosome condensation.

Our Approach

We use yeast and other eukaryotic model systems to study the contribution of structural chromosomal proteins to chromosome architecture and function. Our approach involves a combination of molecular biology, genomics, biochemistry, structural biology, and biophysics techniques, including but not limited to protein purification, analysis, and imaging. We aim to unravel the fascinating mechanisms by which these molecular machines accomplish their tasks.

Your Role

We are seeking a talented Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to our research efforts, advancing our understanding of chromosome architecture and function. As part of our team, you will work closely with senior researchers, developing and implementing new experimental approaches and contributing to the development of our research strategy.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum
  • Access to state-of-the-art facilities and technology
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities
  • A collaborative and dynamic working environment
