London, Greater London, United Kingdom Barts Cancer Institute , Queen Mary University London Full time
About the Role:
We are seeking to recruit a skilled molecular biologist to contribute to the development of cutting-edge methods for detecting cancer earlier than traditional methods. The work will include cataloguing samples and processing plasma to extract cell-free DNA, as well as generating next-generation sequencing libraries from cfDNA across multiple clinical cohorts.

About You:
Applicants should have extensive relevant laboratory experience or a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a molecular biology field. Experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR and next-generation sequencing is essential. A background in working with human tissue samples or potentially infectious materials at containment level 2 would be an advantage. You must have the ability to work to agreed protocols and standard operating procedures, possess good organisational skills, and be able to work independently within a team.

Estimated Salary:
The estimated annual salary for this position is £35,000 - £45,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

About the Institute / Project:
The Rosenfeld lab at the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London, pioneers new approaches for minimally-invasive molecular diagnostics and analysis of cancer genomes using next-generation sequencing of circulating cell-free tumour DNA (ctDNA). The group is a dynamic mix of molecular biologists, bioinformaticians, and clinical fellows providing a unique environment for development and learning in cancer genomics and translational research. We work with large collections of patient samples from different clinical studies, analysing them by genome-wide and targeted methods for sensitive mutation detection. Our goal is to develop novel tools for cancer diagnostics by improving methods and demonstrating clinical utility.

About Queen Mary:
At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diverse range of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable. Throughout our history, we've fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence, continuing to live and breathe this spirit today. We value diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, believing that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.

Benefits:
We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days' leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme, and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we provide a range of work-life balance and family-friendly employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities.

Our commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability.
