Salary

Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Bioinformatician to join our tight-knit team of scientists, engineers, and creatives at Esox Biologics. As a key member of our Detect team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines for processing sequencing data, compiling databases, and generating metagenomic insights. Your expertise will contribute significantly to our mission of transforming existing knowledge of aquatic microbiomes into actionable solutions for the aquaculture industry.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain reproducible bioinformatics workflows using Python and Snakemake
- Collaborate with the lab team to ensure experimental validation of data generated from bioinformatic pipelines
- Actively contribute to the planning and development of new product features, overseeing the journey from conceptualization to launch
- Work closely with colleagues to extend our existing Azure infrastructure for storing sequenced reads, contigs, MAGs, and associated metadata

Requirements
- A degree in Computational Biology/Genomic Science/Bioinformatics or equivalent discipline
- Strong independent work ethic and self-motivation
- Collaborative and growth-focused mindset, with confidence in skills and respect for diverse perspectives
- Experience developing reproducible bioinformatics workflows, including automated testing, and writing clear code and documentation
- Familiarity with quality control of Nanopore sequencing data and experience with metagenomics, phylogenetics, and taxonomic binning are highly desirable
