An exciting opportunity has arisen for a two-year Deputy Departmental Administrator to join our team at the Department of Zoology.

This is a hands-on role which involves the delivery and development of operational and strategic priorities, in close collaboration with the Departmental Administrator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee research grant activity in the department, including donations for research and other philanthropic giving.
  • Manage the new IT support agreement to ensure that the provision of IT support is meeting departmental needs.
  • Be responsible for some day-to-day administrative activities and processes as agreed with the Departmental Administrator and Head of Department.
  • Lead on communications and alumni activities.

About You:

The successful candidate will be a great team player, with superb interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

They will have excellent planning and organisational skills, combined with an attention to detail, a capacity to initiate work independently and a willingness to problem solve and engage directly with specific tasks.

The role holder will be educated to at least degree level (or have equivalent experience) and will be flexible, well organised and able to handle new and unusual situations as they arise.

This role is based in central Cambridge and the successful candidate will be expected to be based on site every day.
