Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Team Leader to join our dynamic SACT day unit at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients and coordinating the overall management of the unit.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the SACT day unit
  • Coordinate the overall management of the unit, including staff supervision and patient care planning
  • Facilitate education and support for qualified and unqualified staff
  • Participate in the development of nursing practice in the clinical area
  • Work independently and autonomously, with accountability for own professional actions

Person Specification

We are seeking a nurse with the following qualifications and experience:

  • RN1
  • In possession of Oncology or Haematology Care modules
  • SACT accredited course or competencies

Desirable criteria include:

  • BSc / Msc
  • Counselling Skills
  • Mentorship or teaching course

Previous experience in a similar role is essential, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality nursing care and coordinating the management of a unit. Desirable criteria include team nursing, change management, and working with chemo care or electronic prescribing systems.

Skills and Abilities

We are looking for a nurse with the following skills and abilities:

  • Team player
  • Good communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Cytotoxic drug administration
  • Cannulation and Venepuncture
  • Ability to prioritise patient care

Desirable criteria include resource management, IT skills, teaching skills, and managing a ward or department in the Sister's absence.
