About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced cancer care specialist to join our team as an advanced clinical practitioner in acute oncology. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our Acute Oncology Service.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work autonomously as an advanced practitioner, providing expert clinical care to patients with metastatic malignancy of unknown origin (MUO). They will be responsible for ensuring that patients receive rapid access to expert oncology input, avoiding unnecessary investigations and improving patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing early input into care coordination, ensuring timely access to specialized care
  • Supporting telephone triage services, offering advice on self-care and complication management
  • Reviewing and auditing pathways of care to improve efficiency and quality
  • Working within ambulatory clinics and daily ward rounds to ensure delivery of tailored care plans
  • Acting as a resource for colleagues within the trust and other healthcare providers

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience at a senior level (Band 7 or above) in cancer or acute care
  • Experience in service development and implementation of change
  • Publication in healthcare journals (optional)
