About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy Advisor to join our team at Disabled Workers Co-operative. As a key member of our Policy and Campaigns team, you will play a vital role in driving policy changes that empower disabled people to enter and thrive in the workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of policy initiatives that promote disability equality and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Conduct research and analysis on government policies and programs related to disability employment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including government officials, employers, and disability organizations, to advocate for policy changes that benefit disabled people.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and influencers in the disability employment sector.
  • Contribute to the development of policy briefs, reports, and other materials that inform our advocacy efforts.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in securing policy change and influencing government decision-making.
  • Strong knowledge of government policy-making processes and the role of research in shaping policy.
  • Passion for disability equality and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by disabled people in the workplace.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility.
