We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As an established health, safety and environmental management consultancy, we have an exciting opportunity for a consultant trainer to support our clients in a range of different industry sectors.

The successful applicant will be supported by an experienced safety practitioner team and directors who are IOSH Mentors. Full coaching and development will be given.

We work throughout the UK, although the majority of work is in the south east of England, so travel is a frequent part of the role. We also support agile working and ability to work from home when report writing etc.

  • A competitive salary depending on age/experience
  • 25 days annual leave, excluding bank holidays, which increases after five years of service to a maximum of 30 days (an additional day every five years)
  • Ongoing training and support
  • Support with your CPD including 2 days per year and up to £500 to spend on an associated development activity of your choice (provided it is relevant to the business as well). This is over and above any training and support identified in personal development reviews.
  • A flexible working culture, using a hybrid approach (part office or home, part client site)
  • Yearly salary reviews and potential bonus
  • Access to a company vehicle or use of your own vehicle, using HMRC rate
  • Attractive pension (5% contribution)

The Role will Include:

  • Carrying out a range of audits (usually on site) and sometimes via desktop.
  • Sometimes working as the in-house specialist advisor for a client (eg 1 or 2 days a week or month).
  • Writing / reviewing risk assessments.
  • Reviewing health and safety procedures and policies, including writing them from scratch.
  • Delivering training (bespoke courses designed by PHSC as well as IOSH accredited courses). Training will be provided if you have limited experience.

The work will involve some travel requiring overnight stays (this will vary according to client need).

Be prepared to study / further develop, supported by our development programme, ie have sufficient self-discipline to study whilst working full time. Be able to stay overnight away from home (up to a few times per month). Have good links for work south of Birmingham but be willing to travel further when required, including to the office in Kent (or Northants) on occasion. Have a clean driving licence. Good use of English grammar, and ability to write reports. Excellent computer skills including use of Microsoft Office. The ability to think and react quickly and efficiently to changing demands and requirements, so flexibility and ability to adapt is key. A willingness to travel to sites elsewhere in the UK and spend the occasional night away from home.
