About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Assistant Technical Officer to join our Pharmacy team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, safe, and effective pharmacy services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the procurement of pharmaceuticals for the hospital
  • Deal with stock shortages and report as necessary
  • Work with the finance and commissioning team to ensure processing invoices
  • Ensure timely claims are made
  • Work with other ATOs and pharmacy technicians to provide dispensary support services
  • Assist in dispensing inpatient, outpatient, TTAs, and Controlled Drugs
  • Manage accurate stock levels in the dispensary and clinical areas
  • Participate in ward top-ups and other distribution services to the wards
  • Work with other ATOs to order IV fluids and medical gases for the hospital

Person Specification

  • 4 GCSEs, two of which should be in English and Mathematics
  • Numerate
  • Literate
  • Word processing, use of the internet, and IT general skills

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Participation in a formal Pharmacy Education or training program
  • Diploma/Graduate in Science
  • NVQ level 2 Pharmacy Services or equivalent
  • Hospital pharmacy experience
  • Dispensary experience
  • Medicines procurement experience
