Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective pharmacy services at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust.

We are seeking a highly motivated and forward-thinking Senior Assistant Technical Officer to join our progressive team in the Pharmacy Department.

The post holder will be responsible for the procurement of pharmaceuticals, managing accurate stock levels, and participating in ward top-ups and other distribution services to the wards.

Main Responsibilities

  • Procure pharmaceuticals for the RNOH
  • Manage stock levels and report any shortages
  • Work with the finance and commissioning team to ensure timely processing of invoices
  • Provide dispensary support services to other ATOs and pharmacy technicians
  • Assist in dispensing inpatient, outpatient, TTAs, and controlled drugs
  • Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Our pharmacy dispensary has been relocated to a purpose-built area with dedicated office workspace, improved facilities for staff training, and enhanced patient consultation and waiting areas.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work as a team
  • Good customer service skills
  • 5 GCSEs, Grade 4-9 or A-C or equivalent, with two in English and Mathematics
  • NVQ level 2 Pharmacy Services or equivalent
  • Hospital pharmacy experience, including dispensary and procurement

Desirable

  • Education and training programmes
  • Minimum Level 2 CIPs qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Diploma or Graduate in Science

Working Arrangements

The post holder will be required to work late duty, weekend working, and Bank Holidays as per the rota.
