About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and forward-thinking Senior Assistant Technical Officer to join our Pharmacy team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, safe, and effective pharmacy service, working closely with our team of specialist and generalist clinical pharmacists, medicines optimisation technicians, and pharmacy assistants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement of pharmaceuticals for the hospital
  • Stock management and reporting
  • Working with the finance and commissioning team to ensure accurate invoicing and claims
  • Providing dispensary support services to other Assistant Technical Officers and pharmacy technicians
  • Assisting with the dispensing of inpatient, outpatient, and Controlled Drugs
  • Managing accurate stock levels in the dispensary
  • Participating in ward top-ups and other distribution services to the wards
  • Liaising with clinicians to ensure timely provision of Homecare prescriptions
  • Ordering IV fluids and medical gases for the hospital

Person Specification

Essential

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work as a team
  • Good customer service skills
  • 5 GCSEs, Grade 4-9 or A-C or equivalent, with two in English and Mathematics
  • Word processing, internet, and IT skills
  • NVQ level 2 Pharmacy Services or equivalent
  • Hospital pharmacy experience, including dispensary and procurement
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working and dealing with internal and external clients

Desirable

  • Education and training programmes
  • Minimum Level 2 CIP's qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Diploma or Graduate in Science
