Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned finance professional to join our EMEA Accounting team in London as a Strategic Finance Leader. This key role will be responsible for driving financial reporting, process improvements, and cross-border projects within the EMEA operations.

About the Role

This office-based position offers flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week, aligned with Amazon's current flexible work guidance. As an Amazon employee, you will enjoy open communication about unique needs for flexible arrangements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the UK Accounting team, providing leadership and direction on key financial statement areas.
  • Lead and drive meetings with senior management on critical financial statement topics.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual closes for EMEA operations, ensuring timely completion and maintaining adequate review mechanisms.
  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement of processes and controls to maintain the highest integrity of financial reporting (US, local GAAP, and management reporting).
  • Deliver functional projects on a cross-country level, implementing best accounting and controllership practices to enhance control environments.
  • Evaluate and align EMEA Accounting activities across the Worldwide Accounting Organization.
  • Influence and articulate accounting and finance terminology to the non-finance community.
  • Support internal and external audit processes.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Extensive relevant experience with CPA/ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent certification and knowledge of various GAAP accounting rules including US GAAP and IFRS.
  • A working understanding of an internal control framework and a solid understanding of control design and operational efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, experience from a 'Big 4' accounting firm, computer literacy in general (MS Office, Essbase, Cognos), and knowledge of Oracle would be advantageous.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this role is £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience. Amazon is committed to competitive compensation packages and career development opportunities.
