**About the Role**

We are seeking a talented Choreographer to join our team and work with Lothian Youth Dance Company (LYDC) on a week-long residency in April 2025. As a Choreographer, you will lead daily classes and creative sessions for LYDC dancers to create an original performance piece of 6-10 minutes in duration.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of working with young people, an inclusive approach to dance, and a practice rooted in contemporary dance. You will be expected to collaborate with the LYDC team, provide clear guidance to the dancers, and deliver a high-quality final performance.

We estimate the salary for this role to be around £1416 per week, based on industry standards and location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily classes and creative sessions for LYDC dancers to create an original performance piece
  • Collaborate with the LYDC team to develop a cohesive and engaging performance
  • Provide clear guidance and support to the dancers throughout the residency
  • Deliver a high-quality final performance that meets the expectations of the project

About Lothian Youth Dance Company

LYDC is Dance Base's in-house company for young dancers, offering talented dancers aged 14-21 the opportunity to broaden their contemporary dance and performance experience as part of a performing dance company. The company meet for one full day each month to develop their contemporary dance technique and creative skills and rehearse for upcoming performances.
