About the Project

A 3.5-year PhD studentship is available to work with Dr Jenny Zhang's team at the Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge. The project aims to elucidate and manipulate the redox chemistries occurring in the extracellular space of microorganisms to enable novel biotechnologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employ chemical biology and biophysical approaches to probe the extracellular space.
  • Use simple synthetic chemistries to manipulate the extracellular space.
  • Work in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver proof-of-concept systems.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in chemistry, physics, or a relevant field.
  • Experience in surface chemistry, synthesis, NMR, and good communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
