Housing Adaptations Specialist
The Private Sector Housing Team at Derbyshire County Council plays a crucial role in helping vulnerable homeowners and private tenants access home improvements and disabled adaptations, enabling them to live independently in their homes.
As a Housing Adaptations Specialist, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of Disabled Facilities Grants, processing grant applications, and recommending grants/loans for approval. You will also oversee work on-site and process grant payments, as well as assist with other housing support services such as Green Homes Grants, heating repairs/improvements, and essential home repairs.
Your role will involve visiting customers in their homes to gather information, discuss their housing needs, and determine how to best meet their individual requirements, while considering relevant policies and procedures. This position requires a valid driving licence and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes.
You will work closely with partners to ensure repairs and adaptations are completed to the required standards and within agreed timescales. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to build trust and maintain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are committed to our core vision, values, and the behaviours outlined in our Competency Framework. This is an exciting opportunity to join our small, passionate, and welcoming team.
Please refer to the job description and person specification when completing your cover letter and updating your CV. Our council offers rewarding conditions of service, including generous leave entitlement and sick pay, flexible and agile working, progressive HR policies, access to the local government pension scheme, discounted leisure membership, and car parking.
An estimated salary for this position is around £35,000-£45,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. If you are interested in this opportunity, please submit your CV and a covering letter stating the job title, and clearly demonstrating suitability and experience for the role.
