About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor to join our Liaison Psychiatry team in Exeter. As a key member of our team, you will provide medical support to patients attending Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford).

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Consultant Psychiatrists, Dr Merryn Anderson and Dr Tom Smith, and will be responsible for providing psychiatric services to patients in need of physical health treatment. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires a commitment to collaborative working and liaison with other health and social professionals.

The post is a pilot and is initially an 18-month fixed-term appointment. The successful candidate will be appointed at Specialty Doctor Grade with a salary threshold of £52,530 rising to a maximum of £82,400 per annum for full-time 10 sessions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical support to patients attending Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford)
  • Work under the supervision of Consultant Psychiatrists, Dr Merryn Anderson and Dr Tom Smith
  • Provide psychiatric services to patients in need of physical health treatment
  • Collaborate with other health and social professionals to deliver high-quality services
  • Meet professional health requirements and commit to continuing professional development
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years in basic psychiatric training
  • Experience at SHO level or above of working in the field of Liaison Psychiatry
  • Confidence in assessing and managing physical health problems and emergencies
  • Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983
  • Knowledge of clinical risk management and relevant Mental Health legislation
