Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Female Community Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of our support team, you will work closely with individuals who have been born with sight and hearing impairments, providing personalized support and care in their own homes and within the community.

As a Sensory Support Specialist, you will receive specialized training to support individuals with dual-sensory impairments, often combined with other disabilities. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement personalized care plans, ensuring that each individual receives the highest level of support and care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support to adults with congenital deafblindness in their own homes and within the community.
  • Assist with day-to-day activities, including shopping, cleaning, personal care, and accessing the community.
  • Support individuals with personal care, including activities such as arts and crafts, music, swimming, sports, and exercising.
  • Attend medical appointments, including medication administration, and work with psychiatrists, therapists, and social workers to ensure person-centered care.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with individuals, their families, and other stakeholders to ensure a high level of support and care.
Requirements
  • BSL Level 1 is preferable, but a willingness to work towards it is essential.
  • A level of energy to complement our team and the individuals we support.
  • Flexibility with time and a willingness to complete overtime when available.
  • A passion for learning and a commitment to ongoing development and training.
