Job Overview

The Estates Hard FM Team is responsible for the day-to-day repairs, PPM, and operational testing for a wide range of building services and equipment located in the Trust.

We are seeking a highly motivated and flexible Fire, Health and Safety Advisor to act as a focus for all fire, health and safety matters in the organisation, with accountability for fire safety matters reporting up to the Site Director of Estates and Facilities Management.

The successful candidate will provide competent advice, assist in providing and maintaining levels of fire precaution within Trust premises in line with NHS Health Technical Memorandum 05:01 (HTM05:01) requirements, and maintain good relationships with the Local Fire Brigade.

As the competent person for fire, the post holder will ensure that the Trust complies with all aspects of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) legislation and will work closely with all relevant parties within the hospital and externally to ensure the provision of a fire safe environment for patients/staff/visitors and to facilitate sustained care and well-being in relation to fire safety.

Main Duties

The Fire Safety Advisor will act as a focus for all fire safety matters in the organisation, with accountability for fire safety matters reporting up to the Site Director of Estates and Facilities Management.

The post holder will provide support as the site Health and Safety advisor and ensure that the Trust fulfils its obligations under the Health and Safety and Work Act 1974.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have significant experience of Fire safety management, providing expert advice and knowledge to the Trust Board and operational staff across departmental boundaries on fire safety, fire risk management, fire legislation, and codes of practice and fire safety training.

The post holder will have a thorough working knowledge of all current legislation, NHS guidance, and advice notes.

The ideal candidate will be able to carry out fire safety audits and risk assessments, make judgments, and apply provisions of highly complex legislation, and develop and deliver fire training programmes to all levels of staff members within the Trust.
