Job Summary

The LGC Group is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Manager to join our Medical Research team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing scientific, commercial, and regulatory support for the commercialisation of intellectual property assets created by researchers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific, commercial, and regulatory support for the commercialisation of intellectual property assets created by researchers.
  • Support the training of researchers to promote industrial engagement.
  • Manage a reagents portfolio and provide face-to-face support to researchers at various sites.
  • Engage legal and patent subcontractors to resolve IP and commercialisation cases.
  • Gather data and provide detailed analysis to support the development of business cases for IP commercialisation.
  • Deliver core training for staff on IP and commercialisation.
  • Work with internal and external legal advice to review collaboration agreement issues.
  • Support the identification of IP requiring protection and work with colleagues and external patent agents to protect IP.
  • Maintain accurate database records of current IP assets being managed.
  • Support other team members with technology transfer activities.

Requirements

  • Degree (BSc, MSc, or PhD) qualified in life sciences.
  • Understanding of intellectual property management processes and ways to protect IP assets.
  • Ability to communicate information regarding intellectual property and commercialisation to a range of audiences.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working in a technology transfer environment to commercialise life science and health-related intellectual property.
  • Some experience of negotiating commercialisation licences.
  • Understanding of the different priorities of industry, researchers, and government when agreeing mutually beneficial outcomes for commercialisation of IP.
