Job Title: Specialist Psychotherapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychotherapist to join our team at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust. As a Specialist Psychotherapist, you will play a crucial role in providing specialist interventions to patients with personality disorders and complex trauma.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering individual and group psychotherapy, as well as Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT). You will work closely with colleagues to provide timely responses to individuals who require treatment, and will be expected to have completed AFC MBT Accreditation as a practitioner or be willing to undertake/achieve accredited status.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team, working in a trauma-informed way and making a difference in the lives of our patients. You will receive regular supervision and relevant additional training will be provided by the service.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide a specialist psychotherapy service to individuals with complex emotional needs within the personality disorder and complex trauma pathway.
  • Deliver individual and group psychotherapy as appropriate, including Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT).
  • Assess clients referred to the psychotherapy service to ascertain and document their history.
  • Facilitate client engagement in the treatment programme and support them in developing effective strategies to resolve or cope with their problems.
  • Provide support in times of crisis, assessing risk in conjunction with the team and in liaison with colleagues.
  • Provide CPA, care management; risk assessment, care planning and the implementation of clinically effective interventions to clients referred to the personality disorder service.
  • Provide a therapy service to clients across the CWPT, including in their homes, GP surgeries or mental health service premises.
Requirements:
  • Psychotherapist (UKCP / BPC / BACP) or Core Training (RMN / OT / Social Work / Arts Therapies / Psychology / Medicine) AND demonstrable experience of providing psychologically informed treatments.
  • Completed AFC MBT accreditation as a practitioner or willingness to undertake/achieve accredited status.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Good clinical assessment skills of complex clinical presentations requiring sensitivity to unconscious processes.
  • Ability to identify psychodynamic and diagnostic formulations where expert opinions may differ.
  • Previous experience of working with individuals with personality disorder.
  • Previous experience of group psychotherapy interventions.
  • Evidence of teaching, training and professional and clinical supervision.
  • Participation in multidisciplinary team work.
  • Expertise in assessing and treating patients with personality disorder.
Experience:
  • Previous experience of supervised psychotherapy with individuals with personality disorder.
  • Recent experience in a mental health setting.
