Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced psychological professional to join us as clinical lead within our NHS Talking Therapies service. We welcome applications from psychological therapists, clinical or counselling psychologists who are interested in using their high level clinical and leadership skills, to develop their career in this senior role within NHS Talking therapies.

The clinical lead role for NHS Talking therapies provides the strategic clinical direction for the service, taking into account local population need, delivering therapies in line with the existing and emerging evidence base and leading on the clinical delivery of nationally set standards. The role works closely alongside operational leads and professionals leads within the mental health directorate and with broad range of stakeholders including commissioners and community sector partners. We are looking for a talented individual with great clinical knowledge, leadership and communication skills who is passionate about the delivery of psychological interventions.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for ensuring the systematic provision of a high-quality specialist service to people with mild to moderate mental health problems within an NHS Talking Therapies service. To undertake service audit and evaluation, propose and implement service development changes. To take a lead in the research strategy for the service, developing a culture of excellence and innovation. To ensure NHS Talking Therapies integrates well with other mental health offers within the localities it services. To work with senior colleagues to develop the supervision strategy across the service and to clinically supervise colleagues within the service, to offer effective, evidence-based specialist service provision, ensuring that services are high quality and based on best clinical and professional practice. To work with both the NHS Talking Therapies teams and commissioning partners to maximise the overall performance and efficiency of the NHS Talking Therapies service with regard to nationally agreed standards, including those relating to recovery, improvement, access and waiting times. To champion co-production and support the development of the lived experience voice within the service.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS including two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology. OR Post-graduate level training in evidence based psychological therapy from a formally accredited course recognised by NHS Talking Therapies with CORE professional training (, nursing, social work, OT). And/Or Accredited as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist by the British Association of Cognitive & Behavioural Psychotherapies (BABCP).

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

Proven supervision and management skills Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialist assessment methods and therapeutic approaches in relation to the client group - including psychometric assessments and interventions and therapeutic interventions relating to the NHS Talking therapies manual. Skills in applying this knowledge Well developed communication skills. Experience in providing consultancy to colleagues

Experience of working in NHS Talking Therapies / community mental health services at Senior Level Experience of providing Clinical supervision to qualified psychologists/psychological therapists and trainees.
