Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Forensic Technician to join our team at Essex Police. As a Digital Forensic Technician, you will be responsible for the collection and extraction of digital evidence using standard operating procedures in support of criminal investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and extract digital evidence from various devices and platforms.
  • Provide advice and assistance to officers and staff concerning the proportionate extraction of digital data.
  • Utilize streamlined, targeted extraction techniques or triage capability of sized digital devices to enable faster charging decisions.
  • Adhere to the quality standard ISO 17025 and understand how this affects the role.
  • Develop and maintain your competence under these requirements ensuring best practice is shared amongst colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Technical ability and proficiency with digital devices.
  • Education to A level standard and experience of working within a digital arena.
  • Experience of writing technical reports.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Working Arrangements:

The Digital Forensic Technician role is shift based, working a 6-week pattern where you will be required to work 1 weekend in 6. The shifts are detailed below:

  • AM shift: 0700 – 1500
  • PM shift: 1200 – 2000
  • Weekend shift: 0800 – 1600

What We Offer:

Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £32,772.00. We also offer a range of benefits including a pension scheme and opportunities for career development.
