About the Role:

Essex Police is seeking a highly skilled Digital Forensic Technician to join their team at the Digital Forensic Hub. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and extracting digital evidence using standard operating procedures in support of criminal investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collection and extraction of digital evidence from various sources, including computers, mobile phones, and other digital devices.
  • Providing advice and assistance to officers and staff on the proportionate extraction of digital data.
  • Utilizing streamlined, targeted extraction techniques or triage capability of sized digital devices to enable faster charging decisions.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop and maintain competence under the quality standard ISO 17025.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest digital forensic procedures and advancements in the field.

Requirements:

  • Technical ability and proficiency with digital devices.
  • Education to A level standard and experience working within a digital arena.
  • Experience of writing technical reports.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Working Environment:

The successful candidate will be working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple demands. They will be required to manage a high caseload and produce high-quality reports or statements for court. The role is shift-based, with a 6-week pattern that includes weekend and evening shifts.
