Job Summary

This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced Senior Social Work Practitioner to join our Emergency Duty Team in Powys.

The role requires the postholder to be AMHP qualified and have experience working with adults and children in crisis. You will receive an honorarium of £3000 per year, paid monthly for the AMHP work you undertake.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled professional to provide statutory emergency duty out of hours to residents in Powys. As a dual-qualified (both Child Safeguarding and Adults AMHP) Senior Social Work Practitioner, you will have the opportunity to build on a wide range of skills working with residents in need and/or in crisis.

Powys has an excellent training department and provides a number of hours for personal development as required to maintain registration and AMHP warrant.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake a fixed position on the rota (shifts will be on a rolling six week rota basis)
  • Assess the workload and prioritise referrals according to need and risk
  • Provide a statutory service for Children and Adults of Powys; including conducting AMHP assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983 and Child Safeguarding duties under S.47 of the Children Act 1989
  • Provide advice and support to residents and external agencies
  • Attend meetings and daytime duties as required with hours provided to do so during the working week
  • Adhere to all Codes of Practice in pursuance of the provision of an out of house emergency service

Requirements

  • AMHP qualification and experience
  • Child Safeguarding experience
  • ICT skills for general administration of role and database recording
  • A passion for assisting those in need or crisis
  • A creative approach to planning interventions when usual daytime resources are closed
  • An active engagement in the team meetings and the supervisory process
