Cost Control Specialist for Construction Projects

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team in Leyland, Lancashire. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in managing the commercial aspects of projects from inception to completion.

Job Summary

Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing detailed cost estimates, monitoring project expenditures, and implementing cost-saving measures. You will also be responsible for contract administration, including the preparation of contract documents and oversight of contractual negotiations.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. A key aspect of this role will be mentoring and supporting junior and intermediate quantity surveyors, providing guidance and training to enhance team performance and development.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Commercial Process Management:
    1. Prepare, review, and update detailed cost estimates and budgets for projects
    2. Monitor project expenditures, analyse variances, and implement cost-saving measures
    3. Delivery of the end-to-end commercial process for a project, owning the commercial aspects of the scheme from enquiry receipt through estimating and delivery and until final account close-out.
  2. Contract Administration:
    1. Manage the preparation of contract documents, including bills of quantities and scopes of work.
    2. Oversee contract negotiations and review terms to ensure compliance with legal and company standards.
    3. Handle contractual disputes, claims, and variations, providing expert advice to resolve issues effectively.
  3. Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
    1. Respond to Client requests promptly, effectively, and professionally
    2. To demonstrate the utmost integrity and respect in all aspects of day-to-day commercial management of the business.
    3. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
    4. Mentor and support junior and intermediate quantity surveyors, providing guidance and training.
    Requirements
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor on Civil Engineering Highways projects
  • Strong knowledge of NEC Contracts
  • Full UK right to work
  • UK Drivers license

The estimated salary range for this position is £55,000-£60,000 per year.
