Job Description

**Job Title:** Senior Category Technologist

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Category Technologist to join our team at Fortnum & Mason. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the technical aspects of our New Product Development (NPD) process, ensuring that all products meet our high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams to ensure the successful development and launch of new products.
  • Product Development: Manage the technical aspects of NPD, including supplier approval, specification sign-off, and quality assurance.
  • Supply Chain Management: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring that they meet our quality and safety standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all products meet our quality and safety standards, and that all necessary documentation is in place.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all products comply with relevant laws and regulations, including food safety and international standards.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities to colleagues to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: A scientific degree or equivalent, and at least 3 years' experience in a technical area in either retailing or manufacturing.
  • Experience: Proven experience in influencing cross-functional teams to deliver new processes, and a good understanding of quality management systems and food safety management.
  • Skills: Strong questioning and probing skills, ability to drive positive change at supplier locations, and effective written and oral communication skills.
