About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Development Director to lead our operations and engineering organization for new AWS region builds in the UK. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, delivering, operating, and automating utility computing services for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic initiatives and provide support to operations and development teams in the UK.
  • Set and execute the strategic vision for operations teams in collaboration with product, sales, security, and service teams.
  • Drive critical aspects of operations and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver large-scale distributed systems.
  • Hire and retain top performers and lead a high-performing team.
Requirements
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Substantial experience building and leading engineering teams that design and deliver large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience in software development, systems engineering, and automation under UNIX/Linux.
  • Proven coaching and leadership skills, including evidence of successful succession planning.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS/PhD degree in Computer Science.
  • Experience managing engineering teams.
  • Experience of problem-solving, debugging, and large-scale event management with customer-facing services.
  • Successful track record in working on large cross-functional, cross-organizational transformation efforts.
