About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Development Director to lead our operations/engineering organization for new AWS region builds. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, delivering, operating, and automating utility computing services for new AWS regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic initiatives and provide support to operations and development teams in the UK.
  • Collaborate with product, sales, security, and service teams to set and execute the strategic vision for operations teams.
  • Drive critical aspects of operations and ensure a detailed understanding of the role.
  • Balance long-term vision with near-term customer needs and be customer-obsessed.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Substantial experience building and leading engineering teams that design and deliver large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience in software development, systems engineering, and automation under UNIX/Linux.
  • Proven coaching and leadership skills, including evidence of successful succession planning.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS/PhD degree in Computer Science.
  • Experience managing engineering teams.
  • Experience of problem-solving, debugging, and large-scale event management with customer-facing services.
  • Successful track record in working on large cross-functional, cross-organizational transformation efforts.
