Mechanical Services Inspector

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to fill the role of Property Inspector. This is a 6-month contract position, offering a competitive hourly rate of £16.17-£18.03/hour PAYE. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid environment, balancing office and on-site responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular inspections of premises to assess work requirements, priorities, and costs, reporting to the Senior Inspector.
- Perform necessary repair works as part of the planned or non-planned maintenance programme.
- Carry out annual written inspections of mechanical services for properties, providing recommendations and collaborating with relevant team members to develop an asset management strategy.
- Respond to emergency requests for mechanical repair work, ensuring timely and safe resolution.
- Issue detailed repair instructions to internal and external contractors, verify submitted invoices, and supervise the completion of repair work and minor projects.
- Liaise with premise managers to discuss repair work, minor planned budgets, and other relevant issues affecting mechanical services.
- Develop a working knowledge of energy management and plant control systems (BEMS) and conventional heat controls, identifying and reporting on system performance.
- Provide electrical monitoring and inspection services on capital projects, adhering to capital project procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, implementing and promoting safe working practices.
- Perform other responsibilities assigned by the Senior Inspector.
- Hold an appropriate construction/services-related HNC or equivalent qualification.
- possess a minimum 5 years' experience in the mechanical services industry within the commercial services sector, preferably with practical site experience.
- Knowledge of current/relevant legislation and codes of practice.
- Good communication and negotiating skills.
- Be mobile throughout the Council area.
- Gas safe registration.
- Contract management experience.
- A current driving licence.
- Membership of a relevant trade body.
- Additional relevant training and experience.
- Corporate membership.
- Knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
- Proficient use of IT software such as CAFM systems, maintenance works ordering, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
