Derivative Operations Specialist

About the Role

At Wellington Management, we are seeking a highly skilled Derivative Operations Specialist to join our InvesTech Operations department. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the OTC settlement and post-execution lifecycle event process for all OTC derivative products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage OTC derivative settlements by processing resets, unwinds, and other lifecycle events for all OTC derivative products
  • Manage outstanding trade and reconciliation breaks
  • Daily review of OTC trade communication to ensure that new trades and amendments are captured properly and subsequently communicated
  • Serve as an escalation point for resolution of trade communication and settlements queries raised by dealers, service providers, and client agents
  • Serve as a resource for internal teams handling OTC derivative-related queries and audit requests from clients and their agents
  • Processing exceptional events that impact OTC derivatives positions, including credit events, corporate actions, and client transitions
  • Continuously identifying opportunities for improvement and assist in implementing necessary changes

Requirements

  • Familiarity with, or interest in, OTC derivatives
  • Experience with back and/or middle office operations
  • Self-starter and independent thinker
  • Sound judgment and analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills needed to work with the team and management
  • Well organized, motivated, and possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and writing skills, effective communication skills, and a high level of attention to detail
  • Undergraduate degree and strong academic record
  • 0-3 years of relevant industry experience is preferred
  • Technical proficiency, such as Excel (macros, etc.) and SQL preferred
