We are seeking a Senior Metrology Specialist to join our Calibration team in Barrow-In-Furness. This is a competitive role with a salary of approximately £60,000 - £80,000 per annum.

">Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and supervising high-level calibration and repair of Mechanical Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE). They will also write, review, and approve calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and supervise calibration/repair of Mechanical TMDE, including resource management and workload signoff.
  • Develop and maintain calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets.
  • Participate in UKAS audits and achieve UKAS signatory status.
  • Deliver on-the-job training and experiential learning to apprentices/lesser experienced team members.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in precision Mechanical metrology laboratory environments.
  • Understanding of quality systems & standards (ISO 17025/ISO 9001).
  • Relevant academic qualification (STEM Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent).
Desirable Skills
  • Existing UKAS signatory status for Mechanical Calibrations (Pressure, Mass, Torque, Force).
  • Experience in creating measurement uncertainty budgets to ISO 17025 level.
  • Proficiency in automation software (Fluke Metcal, Met/Track, Met/Teams, Labview).
