Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Automation Support Engineer to join our team at Müller's Droitwich Dairy. As an Automation Support Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining our site's automation systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide reactive support for site automation issues, working closely with the automation development team to resolve problems efficiently.
  • Develop and implement structured problem-solving approaches to improve site automation performance.
  • Take ownership of minor automation Capex projects, leading them through the full project life cycle.
  • Support project delivery of other site projects with automation elements, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption.
  • Maintain and monitor the use of automation and electrical system software, ensuring version control systems are up-to-date and compliant with group standards.
  • Liaise with the automation development team to provide a site perspective on the ongoing development of group automation and electrical standards.
  • Ensure compliance with group electrical and automation standards for site-delivered projects and general improvement works.
  • Manage obsolescence within the roadmap, working closely with the automation development team to ensure site criticality is a key element of the group-level plan.
  • Develop and maintain the site-level Obsolescence and Improvements Plan, focusing on the next level of controls (VSDs, servo drives, instrumentation, etc.).
  • Evaluate performance data to inform automation OE activity, driving improvements in efficiency and operability within production.
  • Manage the site panel risk assessment register, conducting periodic health checks and implementing remedial/improvement actions as necessary.
  • Provide specialist automation support to site improvement initiatives, utilizing your expertise to drive positive change.
Müller Responsibilities
  • Contribute actively to the continuous improvement of our business, identifying opportunities for growth and development.
  • Encourage engineering-based OE projects, working closely with colleagues to drive innovation and improvement.
  • Support the site roadmaps for Quality, HS, EMS, Engineering, and Autonomous Maintenance, ensuring alignment with Müller's overall strategy.
  • Deliver own ideas to improve our business, working collaboratively with colleagues to drive positive change.
  • Support improvement activities and events within engineering-owned areas, sharing your expertise and experience to drive success.
  • Understand the impact of your actions and those of others on achieving site/business OGSM, ensuring alignment with Müller's overall goals.
  • Aware of how current performance impacts the bottom line, making informed decisions to drive business success.
  • Deliver on-the-job training (show and tell) to new colleagues, sharing your expertise and experience to drive success.
  • Ensure the health and safety of yourself and others, adhering to Müller's strict safety protocols and procedures.
Requirements
  • Strong experience with Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • Strong electrical skills, with a solid understanding of electrical systems and automation.
  • Ability to work on projects alone, with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in a similar Automation Engineer role, with a proven track record of success.
  • FMCG industry experience preferred, but not essential.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of adaptability and flexibility.
  • IT literate, with a solid understanding of automation software and systems.
