Role and Responsibilities

Flannery Plant Hire is a leading provider of plant hire and specialist attachments to the construction industry across the UK and Ireland. With a comprehensive fleet of innovative machinery, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service and meeting our clients' project requirements.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Finance team as an Accounts Assistant. The role will primarily involve supporting the Accountants with various accounting tasks and ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes within the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and reconcile invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions in the accounting system.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing and operations teams to reconcile purchase orders, delivery notes, and supplier invoices for fixed assets.
  • Maintain a tracker for one-off bank payments with all relevant details.
  • Assist in bank reconciliations and ensure accurate recording of all bank transactions.
  • Maintain accurate and organised physical and electronic financial records, including Hire Purchase Agreements and credit card receipts.
  • Maintain credit card expenses, checking balances and transactions, ensuring VAT receipts are supplied and submitted on time.
  • Chase company stakeholders for relevant information relating to credit card expenses.
  • Support the Accountants in ad-hoc financial tasks, answering the telephone and reporting tasks.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices would be advantageous.
  • Working towards AAT or similar would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and self-motivated attitude with a strong desire to learn and develop in the field of finance.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues from various departments.
  • Knowledge of the construction or plant hire industry would be advantageous.
