Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Officer to join our busy team at Dumfries and Galloway Council. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about communication and can help us develop the DG Works voice and maximise reach through compliant communications and campaigns.

This role will involve working closely with our partners to deliver a range of communication objectives, including raising awareness of the Local Employability and Skills Partnership, increasing client engagement with employability services, and improving employers' knowledge and understanding of current issues faced by the local workforce.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject, with a high level of verbal and written communication skills. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to plan and deliver across a range of communication platforms, and have the ability to convey complex information to a range of audiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a communication plan that meets the needs of DG Works and its partners.
  • Work closely with our partners to raise awareness of the Local Employability and Skills Partnership and increase client engagement with employability services.
  • Improve employers' knowledge and understanding of current issues faced by the local workforce.
  • Celebrate successful outcomes from DGLEP programmes and placements.
Requirements

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

This post is fixed term for up to 1 year and may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
