We are seeking a skilled Specialist Behavioural Support Specialist to join our team in Slough.
This role requires a high level of expertise in supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism, providing personalized care and promoting independence.
The successful candidate will work closely with the customer, A, who is a 51-year-old man with mild learning disabilities and autism. The goal is to support him in developing his skills, maintaining his well-being, and enhancing his quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the customer to undertake a full timetable of preferred activities, including art, visiting galleries, attending community groups, and introducing new activities to expand his horizons and networks.
- Developing the customer's independent living skills and involving him in all aspects of maintaining and developing his home, including cooking, shopping, cleaning, and decorating.
- Enabling the customer to keep up with important people in their life and meet new people with shared interests.
- Supporting the customer to communicate their wants and needs and communicating with them in a person-centred way.
- Managing anxieties and frustrations using Positive Behaviour Support and Autism-specific approaches.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with customers with Autism/Challenging Behaviour/learning disabilities.
- Driving licence and willingness to drive as part of support duties.
- Female applicants are not eligible for this position due to the specific requirements of the customer.
