About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering team at AtkinsRéalis. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding projects and contributing to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership on Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) and Detail Design workstreams for National Grid, SSEN-Transmission, or other Transmission & Distribution clients.
  • Ensure adequate quality assurance and delivery of FEED, Detailed Design, and bids for our clients.
  • Ensure adequate resources and training of resources for the purposes of delivering FEED and Detailed Design work for National Grid.
  • Act as BP141 (former TP141)/equivalent assurance engineer where required.
  • Review the HV plant aspects of different projects, including HV layouts, elevations, maintenance access drawings, earthing design, and reports.
  • Act as Principal Designer Representative when required.
  • Coordinate with back-office engineers, sub-contractors, and suppliers as needed.
  • Proven record of ability to manage tender packages as tender manager and doing HV plant aspects of technical offers.
  • Ability to attend and chair Design Review and Hazard Review meetings and reviewing HV plant design packages as required.
  • Attend site visits, FAT, and SAT as required.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience, with experience in Substations Design in the UK Transmission sector.
  • Chartered Engineer through the IET, or working towards.
  • Experience in a leadership/management position in a similar environment.
  • Strong understanding and leadership of engineering projects through asset lifecycles.
  • Track record of leading teams in the delivery of Front-End Engineering and Design or Detailed Design of EHV (132kV-400kV) substation projects.
  • Experience of working for a client organization such as a transmission system owner/operator, distribution network operator, or a design consultancy delivering to such an organization.
  • BP141/TP141 HV Substation qualification or equivalent authorized or ability to do so.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain existing and develop new client relationships.
  • Experience in coaching and developing junior engineers.
  • Flexibility to travel to client sites when required.
  • Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives with the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
