About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Freedom Group. As a key member of our electrical design team, you will be responsible for leading the design of complex electrical projects, including overhead line (OHL) design, from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of OHL projects, including conductor sizing and modeling, insulation selection, lightning protection, line routing, and structure and foundation design.
  • Develop and implement design processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement business strategies and goals.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior design engineers and other team members.
  • Supervise and mentor design team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure designs meet company standards and industry regulations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in OHL design, including transmission and distribution voltages.
  • Experience with design software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER.
  • Strong knowledge of industry regulations and standards, including CDM 2015 and the Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
