About NHS Blood and Transplant

We collect over 7,000 blood donations every day to provide vital blood and blood products that help save and improve the lives of thousands of people annually. Our team offers a welcoming environment for donors, ensuring they receive exceptional care.

As a Care Coordinator for Blood Donation, you'll be an essential part of our team, playing a vital role in saving and improving lives daily in a dynamic environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • You will take part in training to learn how to insert needles into donor arms for blood donation units.
  • You will look after donors throughout their donation journey to ensure they have a positive experience and receive exceptional care.
  • You will record accurate documentation from donors, maintaining precise records throughout the session.
  • You will encourage donors to return by building relationships and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • You will safely handle and manage blood products, needles, and equipment.

This is a variable hours and days position, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, with adequate notice of the rota.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Experience dealing with the public.
  • A proven track record of delivering quality customer service.
  • A willingness to learn new technology skills and undergo digital training.

Qualifications and Training:

  • A good standard of numeracy and literacy.
  • A commitment to undertaking development and training to upskill yourself, including completion of the Skills for Health Care Certificate.

The estimated salary for this position is £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on location and qualifications.
