About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Handyman to join our team at South Place Hotel. As a Handyman, you will be responsible for completing maintenance work orders from all departments in a timely manner, ensuring all equipment is in good condition with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to and attend to guest repair requests, communicating with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with minimal supervision.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, ensuring each day's activities and problems are communicated to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.
  • Display solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools, as well as other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment, including plumbing, electrical equipment, and other guestroom items.
  • Program TVs and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties, including surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and light bulb and A/C filter replacement.
  • Display working knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including devices that interact with such programs.
  • Perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, following all company and safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that maintenance procedures and controls that are in place are adhered to, and that all Breakdown/Emergency requests are dealt with efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure that all firefighting equipment and associated alarm systems are in safe working order and maintained in line with local authority requirements.
  • Ensure that all electrical equipment is in safe working order in line with regulations, and execute general repairs as quickly as possible with minimal disruption to guest services.
  • Ensure that health and safety and other statutory regulations are always adhered to.
