Job Title: Neonatal Nurse Educator

The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse to join its dynamic education team. As a Neonatal Nurse Educator, you will play a crucial role in facilitating and coordinating the delivery of Maternity clinical skills and emergency skills training to the multi-professional maternity and obstetric teams.



You will be responsible for maintaining a senior professional midwifery role within the maternity service, providing expert evidence-based care in daily practice and acting as a role model to other staff. This includes planning and coordination of the maternity clinical and emergency skills program in liaison with maternity clinical skills (MCS) team and head of midwifery (HOM).



Key responsibilities include:




  1. Planning and coordination of the maternity clinical and emergency skills program
  2. Facilitating the development of maternity clinical and emergency skills for all midwifery and maternity support workers (MSW) in the maternity service
  3. Assisting in the delivery of orientation training program for new maternity staffing and staff changing clinical areas in maternity service
  4. Liaising with clinical leads and Health Roster to ensure staff resources are made available for training and development opportunities
  5. Ensuring the communication and dissemination of training information related to educational offerings and Mandatory training
  6. Ensuring the maintenance of record of training and the production of reports for monitoring mandatory and other skills training
  7. Providing risk management training information and reports to the Maternity Safety groups
  8. Participating in the short and long term strategic development of the service and educational requirements within maternity
  9. Attending meetings to ensure effective communication within the team and leading on actions
  10. Evaluating training delivery by the MCS team and making necessary changes
  11. Coordinating and delivering in-situ live drills of maternity emergencies
  12. Ensuring all junior and student midwives educational and training needs are met
  13. Liaising with other specialist midwives to promote practice development
  14. Supporting the future development initiatives in maternity
  15. Providing educational support for MSW undertaking the foundation degree
  16. Supporting the MSW recruitment process
  17. Supporting the delivery of Excellence in Care certificate


This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Neonatal Nurse to join the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.



Key qualifications and experience include:




  • Senior Practicing midwife with evidence of practice in all areas of midwifery
  • Evidence of post-registration education
  • Teaching and assessing/mentor preparation qualification
  • Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics Qualification
  • NLS Instructor Status


Please note that this is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, with a salary range of £54,320 to £60,981 per annum (pro rata). The working pattern is full-time, part-time, flexible working, and compressed hours.
