Job Title: Lead Engineer - Aerodynamics

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer - Aerodynamics to join our Andretti Cadillac team at our Silverstone facility. As a key member of our Aerodynamics department, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers responsible for developing tools, applications, and workflows that provide capability across the team's Aerodynamics department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management and responsibility for the Aerodynamics Team
  • Technical lead for the Aerodynamics Team
  • Develop and implement methodologies, tools, and workflows to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our Aerodynamics process
  • Work with Aerodynamicists and CFD engineers to solve problems and develop processes
  • Responsible for the delivery of robust, observable, testable & performant processes
  • Ensure that Aerodynamics simulations and analysis carried out within the department are aligned with the capability of the tools
  • Overseeing the optimisation, maintenance, and support of new and existing codes, processes, and toolkits
  • Working and contributing across multiple disciplines of the Aerodynamics group; including process, external flows, internal flows, thermal modelling, and pipeline development
  • Lead software engineers to translate engineering codes into robust applications
  • Assist and contribute to the long-term High-Performance Computing (HPC) strategy
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Aerodynamics process group
  • Provide support to users of the Aerodynamics process

Requirements:

  • Multiple years' relevant experience in a similar role within the motorsport industry
  • Strong knowledge of fluid physics, numerical methods, turbulence modelling
  • Experience in programming (C++, Python, Java, or VBA) and experience with STAR-CCM+ and open-source Aerodynamics codes
  • Experience with HPC hardware and systems
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors
  • Ability to line manage / lead teams effectively
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors
  • Clear and concise communication
  • Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture
