Job Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Pastoral Lead to join our team at Austin Fraser. As a key member of our educational recruitment team, you will be responsible for supporting the pastoral care and welfare of students, ensuring they achieve their full potential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with teaching staff to identify and address pupil needs, promoting academic success and personal growth.
  2. Engage with parents/carers through regular home visits, maintaining open communication and fostering positive relationships.
  3. Act as a liaison between parents/carers and the school, resolving any issues or concerns promptly.
  4. Promote the development of external partnerships, establishing initiatives that enhance pupil outcomes and address barriers to learning.
  5. Provide support and guidance to pupils experiencing difficulties, including those related to attendance, behaviour, or academic performance.
  6. Maintain accurate records and reports, showcasing your work with children, young people, and families.
  7. Operate within established school policies and procedures, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment.
  8. Implement targeted interventions to improve pupil behaviour and engagement, tailoring approaches to individual needs.
  9. Support vulnerable pupils during significant transitions, such as moving from one year group to another.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding principles, ensuring a secure environment for all.
  • Understanding of external agencies and their roles, facilitating effective collaboration.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold professional boundaries.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, prioritising tasks efficiently.
