Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Group Technical Manager to join our team at North Star Shipping. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective performance of all ships assigned, owned, and operated by North Star.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise and update the Chief Technology Officer on ship operations and monitor budget and expenditure closely.
  • Manage ship maintenance to ensure seaworthiness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Allocate resources and manage inventory for North Star Rescue Services.
  • Monitor adherence to the organization's Management System and risk management procedures.
  • Develop and implement workflow improvements to enhance service delivery.
  • Ensure close-out of all vetting, audit, and investigation observations to prevent recurrences.
  • Manage key relationships with Assistant Technical Managers, Technical Superintendents, Supply Chain Manager, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the execution of repairs, monitor results of vetting inspections, and implement strategies to maintain and monitor certification of ships.
  • Prepare ship condition reports for management and review purchasing performance to identify shortcomings.
Requirements
  • Managerial experience in the offshore support vessel sector.
  • Qualification to Chief Engineer Unlimited standard or recognized equivalent.
  • Good working knowledge of electronic Planned Maintenance Systems and Purchasing systems.
  • Strong managerial skills, ability to work on own initiative, and under pressure.
  • Mature, professional approach to work, patience, and excellent verbal communication skills.
