Job Title: Group Technical Manager

Job Summary:

The Group Technical Manager is a key role within North Star Shipping, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective performance of all ships assigned, owned, and operated by the company. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including SOLAS, IMO, Class, and Flag Administrations regulations.
  • Liaise with Classification societies, Port State, and Flag State to address new requirements or perceived problems.
  • Assist and support Vessel Superintendents in achieving their objectives, including maintaining vessels in 'Class' and within agreed budgets.
  • Monitor the performance of vessel's Engineering Officers and Assistants, taking prompt action when necessary.
  • Hold regular meetings with Technical Superintendents and the Chief Technology Officer to discuss budgets, projects, and other issues.
  • Undertake ship visits on board all vessels on a regular basis.
  • Review and assess the performance of relevant technical staff for annual performance bonuses and appraisals.
  • Deputize for the Chief Technology Officer as necessary.
  • Provide out-of-hours service when required.

Requirements:

  • Managerial experience in the offshore support vessel sector is essential.
  • Preferably qualified to Chief Engineer Unlimited standard (or a recognized equivalent).
  • Good working knowledge of electronic Planned Maintenance Systems and Purchasing systems is essential.

Reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer of North Star Shipping.

Communications:

  • Daily contact with fellow employees and management of the Craig Group Ltd.
  • Liaising with crew members on a regular basis.
