Job Title: Learning Support Assistant - Complex Autism Specialist

Leader Education is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work at a large SEND school in Peterlee. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with students with complex autism, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.

The school has a diverse range of special educational needs, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with students of varying ages and abilities. The school prides itself on being a warm and welcoming academy, committed to securing the best possible outcomes for its students.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm, and the position is long-term, given a successful trial. The successful candidate will have:

  • DBS clearance or be willing to obtain it.
  • Educational background or work experience relevant to the position.
  • Specialized training or experience in autism education is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • A good knowledge of EHCPs.
  • The ability to assist in lessons and activities.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • The ability to support students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
