About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Manager to join our Research Programmes Directorate at NIHR. As a Research Manager, you will play a key role in driving the strategic development and delivery of research funding programmes, contributing to reducing health inequalities and reconfiguring the health, social care, and public health systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and articulate research investment opportunities
  • Provide expert advice to potential applicants
  • Review and revise application forms and guidance documents
  • Coordinate and manage the peer review process
  • Oversee funding committees and negotiate funding agreements
  • Manage a portfolio of funded projects and provide regular updates
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve programme objectives

Requirements

  • Master's degree in biomedical, health, or social sciences, or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in building relationships with various individuals and teams
  • Proven track record in successful project and programme management
  • Ability to think strategically and make informed decisions
  • Excellent writing and attention to detail, with experience in writing reports and proposals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in managing complex projects
