Hours per week: 37, Monday to Friday, normal working hours

Role Duration: 3 months

Location: Rugby

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Planning Officer to join our team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out monitoring functions for the Planning Service and producing reports analysing the results, including monitoring the Local Plan.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct planning monitoring and produce reports, including the Authority Monitoring Report, Annual Infrastructure Funding Statement, and five-year housing land supply statement on a regular basis.
  2. Carry out research and analysis and provide relevant information to customers.
  3. Prepare reports and draft policies in an effective and efficient manner.
  4. Stay up-to-date with national and local planning legislation, policy, and guidance.
  5. Provide policy advice and information to site promoters and developers, and the general public in an efficient and effective manner.
  6. Consider, analyse, and formulate conclusions on responses to planning policy consultations.
  7. Manage and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines.
  8. Keep records of own work activities in a systematic manner to set targets and monitor achievements.
  9. Carry out site visits and attend meetings associated with planning policy and future development issues.
  10. Provide comprehensive planning policy advice to development management officers, officers in other departments, and council members.
Requirements:
  1. A minimum of GCSE A – C grades (or their equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
  2. Degree or Diploma in Town Planning or relevant degree with extensive planning experience in the United Kingdom.
Desirable Skills:
  1. Possess knowledge of UK town planning procedures.
  2. Experience of and skills in public participation/engagement.
  3. Experience of planning policy work either in a local authority or private practice in the UK.
