We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our team at FPCR Environment and Design Ltd. As a Senior to Principal Ecologist, you will be responsible for providing technical advice to clients on a diverse range of ecological projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead on complex ecological projects, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) reports, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) documents.
- Develop and implement effective survey techniques and best practice methods to ensure high-quality results.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions to meet their ecological requirements.
- Conduct site visits and surveys to gather data and information on wildlife habitats and species.
- Prepare and present reports, including Biodiversity Impact Assessments (BIA) and use of the DEFRA metric.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and other professionals in the industry.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in ecological practice and legislation, including the UK planning system.
- Degree-level qualification in Ecology or a related field.
- Full Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or other similar professional body.
- Level 2 Bat Licence.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in project management, with excellent client liaison skills.
- Good knowledge of best practice survey techniques, relevant wildlife legislation, and protected species licensing.
- Advanced knowledge of ecology and wildlife protection in the context of the UK planning system.
- Experience of advising clients on Biodiversity Net Gain, including production of Biodiversity Impact Assessments (BIA) and use of the DEFRA metric.
- Demonstrable experience in complex report writing, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) reports, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) documents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A full clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
