Your Role

as our Electrical Installation Designer:

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical installations, including harness routing and packaging of electronic components for new vehicles and modifications to existing ones.
  • Contribute to the design of electrical harnesses and associated components, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Generate technical documentation to support harness manufacture, vehicle assembly, vehicle operation, and updates, utilizing industry-standard tools and software.
  • Support the development of off-vehicle systems, internal test facilities, and rigs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Resolve electronic systems faults, applying analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and rectify issues.

Requirements

What you need to succeed:

  • Educated to degree level in an engineering subject or similar, with a strong foundation in electrical principles and practices.
  • Extensive experience in electrical installation design, ideally with proficiency in Solidworks and other industry-standard design tools.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Harness draftsman documents and the ability to interpret and apply this knowledge in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with electrical schematic design packages, including Zuken E3 or VeSys Electrical, and the ability to create accurate and detailed designs.
  • Good understanding of electrical components, systems, and their integration, with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex electrical systems.
  • Ability to plan and manage own workload, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Clear and concise communication, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and capable of working generally unsupervised to challenging deadlines, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Strong levels of IT skills, including proficiency in Google Docs and other industry-standard software.
  • Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture, fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment.

Extra kudos:

  • Familiarity with various automotive connector systems, including Deutsch, Molex, and TE Connectivity, would be a distinct advantage.
  • Skilled in soldering surface mount technology (SMT) components and diagnosing/repairing printed circuit boards (PCBs), with a strong understanding of electronic components and their applications.
  • An understanding of CAN bus architecture will be beneficial in designing and developing electrical systems that meet the needs of modern vehicles.
