About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Devon Partnership NHS Trust. As a psychiatrist with expertise in learning disability psychiatry, you will work closely with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to develop and deliver tailored care plans that meet the complex needs of individuals with learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative care pathways and services that promote positive outcomes for patients and their families, working closely with our multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective collaboration and coordination.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage patients with complex mental health needs, including those with co-morbid physical health conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, working collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of education and training programs for staff, focusing on best practices in psychiatric care for individuals with learning disabilities.
Requirements
  • At least four years' experience in a relevant specialty, including two years in a postgraduate training program or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act 1983 and the Equality Act 2010.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessing and managing physical health problems and emergencies.
